Intentional Storytelling

You want a day that’s quiet, meaningful, and deeply beautiful, yet still honors some of the the traditions that are meaningful to you.

You’ve always known that the pomp and circumstance of a big, traditional wedding isn’t for you. You crave something quieter, more personal. You feel at home in the mountains. For you they are a place of stillness and solitude, a place where you can say your vows that feels safe, sacred, and full of meaning.

But planning a day like this can feel daunting. The mountains are vast, how do you even choose the right spot? Will you have to hike? How do you find a location where you can be alone for your vows? What if the weather changes? Do you need a permit?

It can start to feel like planning this is pulling you away from what truly matters: the quiet, sacred moment when you turn to each other and make your promises.

Hi, I'm Betsy. I am your elopement photographer based in the San Juan Mountains. I've never felt more at home or more at peace than I do in these mountains. As a local to these gorgeous mountains I know why these places have drawn you here for your elopement day.  They are rugged and breathtakingly beautiful and they make you feel like you are home. I feel lucky to call these places my own.

I believe my job as an elopement photographer is so much more than showing up with a camera. Of course I'm going to capture the story of your day with all the joy, the tears and the quiet moments that have meaning. But I'm also going to use all of my local knowledge to guide and craft your elopement day in the San Juan Mountains, so you can soak in their wild, breathtaking beauty and stay fully present with each other, without the weight of planning or stress.

When you work with me you get the benefit of a local on your side.

Every couple I work with starts out feeling overwhelmed, just like you.

I’ll help you move from feeling lost and overwhelmed to experiencing a seamless, unique, and deeply personal elopement with your vision at the heart of the planning.

I love the San Juan Mountains, they are a second home to me. As a landscape photographer, and a local, I have spent so many countless hours exploring these mountains. I know the light and the weather patterns, I know what each season brings and how to make the most of this. I know the backroads and secret spots that can elevate your elopement and provide seclusion and peace to the day.

As an elopement photographer I use all that knowledge to guide you to quiet mountain meadows, untouched waterfalls, azure blue lakes and all the incredible places where you can say your vows.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can we bring guests along?

Totally! If having a few of your favorite people there feels right, we’ll make it happen. Some locations are perfect for 2–10 guests, and others work best with just the two of you. Once you tell me your vibe, I’ll help you pick a spot that fits everyone comfortably.

Do we have to hike for our elopement?

Nope! You don’t have to hike at all to have a breathtaking ceremony. There are tons of beautiful, easy-to-reach places. But if you do want to throw on some hiking boots and wander into the mountains, I’m right there with you. We’ll go at your pace and choose a trail that feels good.

How do permits work?

Certain spots need a permit, others don’t. Once we narrow down where you’re dreaming of getting married, I’ll walk you through exactly what’s required. If paperwork is involved, I’ll help you find the right links, deadlines, and details so it’s all super straightforward.

Can our dog be part of the elopement?

Please say yes! I love when couples bring their pets. We’ll pick a location that’s pet-friendly and make sure they’re as comfy as you are—water breaks, shade, places to rest, all of it. And since you’re eloping in Colorado… yes, your dog can sign the marriage license. It’s adorable every time.

What happens if the weather gets weird?

Mountain weather loves to keep things interesting, but we’ll roll with it. I always have backup plans and flexible timing ready. And honestly? Fog, snow, wind, and moody skies often make for some of the most magical photos. We’ll keep safety in mind, stay cozy, and make the best of whatever the day brings.

Can we choose a really remote or quiet location?

Absolutely. I love helping couples find tucked-away places with big views and fewer people. If you want something peaceful and private, I’ve got lots of ideas. We’ll make sure it fits your comfort level and the adventure you’re looking for.
